In 1999 the Alliance received a generous grant to purchase a Toyota Land Cruiser to be used as an ambulance. For nearly 10 years the vehicle has not only provided emergency transportation, but it has become integral to all that we do in the villages we support. The vehicle has allowed the Alliance to complete extensive projects in 72 rural villages such as:
- Taking village women in labor and other critically ill villagers to the hospital
- Transporting medicines, vaccines, school supplies
- Transporting doctors, nurses, committee expedition members, and Utah staff to villages for medical, health, education, and economic development initiatives.
IN SHORT, THE VEHICLE HAS BECOME VITAL
TO ALL THE WORK WE DO!
Since 1999 the Land Cruiser has been used daily on rough terrain. Many villages are very remote -- up to two hours outside of the township of Ouelessebougou on rugged and rutted dirt roads. The old vehicle has been put to good use, but is now almost totally out of commission. This has become a huge obstacle for our Malian staff members who are now unable to complete many of their essential tasks. We need to purchase a new vehicle immediately at a cost of $40,000.
Due to the generosity of some of our amazing supporters, we have already raised 3/4 of the funds needed, but are still $10,000 short and are asking for your help. A vehicle is our most urgent need as it enables us to serve the people of this impoverished region! So please click the link below and make your donation today!
